Rules: The car had to be sold brand new in 1958.
For me the answer is a 1958 DeSoto Adventurer. Two main reasons.
1. The paint on the Adventurer was second to none.
2. It had the best taillights in the business.

1958 Aston Martin DB4. Yes I love James Bond, but it just has a lot of class on it’s own.

A 1956 Saab Sonnett. Saab only made 6 of them, 2 brought to the US, 1 in the GM museum. It had a 700cc 2 stroke 3 cylinder (58hp/63lb-ft), weighed 500kgs, had a top speed of 200kph, it would not be a Saab with out having a longitudinal mount engine being front wheel drive.

And in beige, because you couldn’t get the Fury in red (unless you special ordered) :

I agree. The 5 was nice for what it was, but you would think it would have to owe it’s popularity to the 4.

Simple, I would have bought a 58 Impala hardtop with a 348 w motor, tri power and a 4 speed.
Then taken it immediately and gave it the mild custom treatment because 58s needed a little clean up.

There is or was a rusty one of these for sale in my area with a missing engine and trans. I’ve been meaning to look at it, even if I can’t afford another barge at the moment.
